Hydro-bios's Multi Limnos automated water sample collector is designed to automatically collect 10 water samples at predetermined intervals from a maximum depth of 30 meters of water. The system comes with 10 Duran glass bottles, each of 1L capacity. These bottles are screwed onto a Limnos head and fixed to a base. When the system sinks to the expected depth, all the bottles are closed. They are opened one after another at predetermined intervals. When the bottles are filled with water, they are automatically closed by integrated ball valves.
Multi Limnos has important application value in sediment dynamics research. Recently, researchers from an institute under the state oceanic administration placed two sets of Multi Limnos near an oil platform at the mouth of the Yellow River. After the treatment of water samples, the sediment content per cubic meter of water was calculated accurately. Compared with the traditional optical measurement equipment, the data obtained by Multi Limnos is more authentic and reliable due to the objectivity of the data collection method. The data obtained from this experiment is an order of magnitude higher than the previous data, which makes the scientific community have a further understanding of the relationship between seawater dynamics and coastal erosion, which is a major advance in the study of sediment dynamics. At the same time, these data provide strong technical support for Marine engineering.
We firmly believe that the Multi Limnos automated water sample collector will play an increasingly important role in the field of Marine engineering.
